Artist Bio - Lucinda Sperry
Artist, graphic designer, owner of designgoddess.com
Based in Norwalk, Iowa, I am an intuitive acrylic painter inspired by nature, the vibrancy of color, and self-expression. Since 2000, my creative journey has been defined by bold color choices and a fast, fluid painting process that captures the vibrancy and movement of the world around me. I use an epoxy gloss to further enhance the colors in my work, as I want the viewer to see and feel their full impact.
In the mid-2000s, I worked out of a studio at the Fitch Building before creating my own studio space in my home, allowing me to further explore and develop my artistic voice.
During the 2000s, you could frequently find my art at the Valley Junction Arts Festival, the East Village Art Festival, and other art shows at the fairgrounds, connecting with Iowa’s creative community and art lovers.
I am known for my expressive hearts and my Glam Gal series from the mid-2000s, which celebrated the diverse attitudes and strengths of women while reflecting my own core values. My earlier work often featured recognizable objects or figures, offering viewers a familiar element to connect with. In recent years, my art has evolved toward more abstract and multimedia formats, incorporating found objects such as cardboard and metal pieces, mostly repurposed from chandeliers, embracing sustainability and creative freedom.
For me, painting is a therapeutic process, one that centers and calms me. I hope my art inspires others to embrace their authenticity and uniqueness.
In a world that often asks us to conform, my work stands as a vibrant declaration: there is power in being wholly, fearlessly yourself.
